29. Dezember 2010DEUTSCH : Hurtsmile heisst die neue Band von Gary Cherone (Extreme, Van Halen), der sich mit seinem Bruder Mark zusammengetan hat um sein bisher prägnantestes Album zu veröffentlichen. Das selbstbetitelte Album “Hurtsmile” wird am 21.01.2011 erscheinen.
Vom Kreissägen-Riff -Opener “Just War Theory” bis zum epischen Finale ”Slave” und “Beyond The Garden/Kicking Against the Goads” scheut Gary auf “Hurtsmile” lyrisch in keinster Weise davor zurück, provokante Themen zu behandeln.
Als Bassist haben die Cherone-Brüder Joe Pessia (ein ehemaliger Mittstreiter Nuno Bettencourts bei Dramagods sowie Gitarrist bei Tantric) rekrutiert. Joe stand Gary zudem als Engineer und Co-Produzent zur Seite. Abgerundet wird das Line-Up von Dana Spellman am Schlagzeug.

ENGLISH : Hurtsmile is the new band featuring singer Gary Cherone (Extreme, Van Halen) who has teamed up with his brother Mark to write his most succinct record to date. The self-titled output “Hurtsmile” will be released on January 21, 2011! From the opening buzz saw riff of “Just War Theory” to the epic finale of ”Slave” and “Beyond The Garden/Kicking Against the Goads”, Gary continues to push and poke you in the ear with his lyrically provocative themes.
The brothers recruited Joe Pessia (bass) an alumnus of Nuno Bettencourt’s Dramagods as well as the guitar player for Tantric. Joe also engineered, and co-produced the record with Gary. To round off the lineup they enlisted heavy hitter Dana Spellman on drums

29. Dezember 2010DEUTSCH: Die digitale Doppel-Single “The Sound Of Violence” / “Bomber” der UK Thrash-Legenden Onslaught ist auf iTunes, Amazon und Co. erhältlich. Die Einkünfte aus dem Verkauf der Single kommen der Charity-Organisation Help For Heroes zugute. Der erste Track stammt vom kommenden Album „Sounds Of Violence“ und ist gekoppelt mit einer Coverversion des Motörhead Tracks “Bomber“ (mit Gastauftritten von Phil Campbell von Motörhead und Sodom’s Tom Angelripper). Zu „Bomber“ wurde zudem ein Videoclip gedreht, den man hier anschauen kann!
Das neue Onslaught Album “Sounds Of Violence” wird am 28. Januar 2011 in Europa veröffentlicht (erhältlich als CD, Ltd. Digi Pak und Ltd. Vinyl [180g, Gatefold Sleeve]).

ENGLISH: The digital double-single “The Sound Of Violence” / “Bomber” by UK thrash legends Onslaught is out on iTunes, Amazon and Co.! The band is donating all net profits resulting from the single sale to the charity organisation Help For Heroes. The first track is taken from the up-coming record „Sounds Of Violence“ and is combined with a cover version of the Motörhead classic “Bomber“ (feat. special guest appearances by Motörhead’s Phil Campbell and Sodom’s Tom Angelripper). Additionally, a video clip for „Bomber“ has been released. Check it out on here!

21. Dezember 2010DEUTSCH: Samael haben „Lux Mundi“ (zu deutsch: Licht der Welt) als Titel für ihr im Frühjahr 2011 erscheinendes neues Album gewählt.
Die Arbeiten am neuen Album nahmen rund drei Jahre in Anspruch. Aufgenommen wurde „Lux Mundi“, nachdem die Band ein paar Tage zusammen mit Waldemar Sorychta in Deutschland an der Pre-Production gearbeitet hatte, an zwei verschiedenen Orten in der Schweiz. Für den Mix zeichnet der Extreme Metal Spezialist Russ Russell (Kettering, England) verantwortlich.
„Lux Mundi“ wird 10 bis 12 Songs beinhalten, inklusive der ersten Single „Antigod“ und dem Live-Monster „Soul Invictus“.
„Antigod“, die erste Single aus dem kommenden Album, wurde am 19. November 2010 veröffentlicht. Der Track gibt einen Vorgeschmack auf die musikalische Ausrichtung des neuen Albums. Textlich ist „Antigod“ eine klare Stellungnahme gegen jede Art von Religion.
„Soul Invictus“ (zu deutsch: unbesiegbare Seele) ist ein Wortspiel um den römischen Begriff „sol invictus“. Die Römer betrachteten die Sonne (sol) als eine ewige und prächtige Lebensform. Samael haben schon früher Parallelen zwischen der Sonne und der Seele gezogen („As The Sun“, „Solar Soul“…). „Soul Invictus“ war Bestandteil der Setlist der letzten Europa-Tour und entwickelte sich schnell zu einem Highlight und einer Publikums-Hymne!
Samael werden bis zum Release von „Lux Mundi“ regelmässig einen Song aus dem kommenden Album vorstellen.
ENGLISH: Samael have chosen “Lux Mundi” (which translates in English as “Light of the World”) as title for their upcoming album due to be released on spring 2011.
The album, which took almost three years to be completed, was recorded this summer after the band spent a few days in Germany on pre-production with Waldemar Sorychta. The recording took place on two different locations in Switzerland and the mix has been done by extreme metal specialist Russ Russell in Kettering (England)
“Lux Mundi” will consist of 10 to 12 new songs including first single “Antigod” and live monster “Soul Invictus”
Every week or so the band will break down another new song:
“Antigod” was the first single release on 19th November 2010. It shows the new album’s direction and gives a taste of what’s about to come. Lyrically the song is a firm stand against any! kind of religion.
“Soul Invictus” (roughly translate in English as Invincible Soul) is a word play with the Sol Invictus used by the Romans. They were seeing the sun (sol) as an eternal and glorious form of life and they reverted it as so. Samael did a parallel with the sun and the soul on a few occasions in the past (As The Sun, Solar Soul…) The song has been played during the latest European tour and it soon turned out to be one of the highlight of the set becoming a crowd anthem on the spot.
TIMES OF GRACE – neuer Song online / new song online
